Yundi: Red Piano – Publicist

22 February, 2012

The Chinese Embassy, London

Yundi, the charismatic pianist with a rock star following in China is releasing his first CD completely devoted to music from his homeland.

The centrepiece of Red Piano is one of the best-known works in the Chinese orchestral repertoire, Yellow River Piano Concerto, which is followed by a selection of classical pieces for solo piano based on traditional Chinese melodies and songs. Some have been specially arranged for this album and, as such, are world premiere recordings like Pi Huang, an old-fashioned Chinese name for Peking Opera.
